Dr. Nora Gleed
Expertise Rooted in North Carolina.
For over seven years, North Carolina has been home. After earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Duke University, I found the focus of my career: helping patients return to the activities, people, and movements that matter most to them.
Vestibular conditions are more than physical symptoms—they are life-altering challenges that can disrupt your independence and your connection to the world around you. Because these conditions demand more than general training, I completed the rigorous, competency-based vestibular course co-hosted by Duke and Emory University, earning a Certificate of Achievement. That specialized preparation shapes the evidence-based, compassionate care I provide—care designed to help you regain your balance, confidence, and quality of life.
Outside of the clinic, I love spending time with my husband and daughter. Whether we are traveling, reading, exploring the outdoors, or pursuing art, these moments keep me grounded. I am proud to serve the people of North Carolina through this specialized practice.
"Every patient deserves to understand their condition and feel confident in their treatment plan." — Nora Gleed, PT, DPT

Specialized Care for Balance and Dizziness.
Evidence-based vestibular rehabilitation to help you regain steady footing and get back to your daily life.

What is Vestibular Rehabilitation?
The vestibular system is a small but complex sensory system in your inner ear that tells your brain where your body is in space. When this system is disrupted, the world can feel unsteady.
We specialize in treating the full spectrum of vestibular and balance disorders, including:
- BPPV: Feeling a brief, intense spin when tilting your head or rolling in bed.
- Vestibular Neuritis & Labyrinthitis: Sudden, severe dizziness and imbalance caused by inner ear inflammation.
- Meniere's Disease: Episodes of vertigo, hearing changes, and ear fullness that disrupt daily life.
- Vestibular Migraine: Recurring dizziness or motion sensitivity linked to migraine, with or without headache.
- Concussion & Post-Concussion Dizziness: Persistent balance issues and visual motion sensitivity following head injury.
- Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD): Chronic unsteadiness and dizziness worsened by visual stimulation or upright posture.
- Mal de Debarquement Syndrome (MdDS): A persistent rocking or swaying sensation that lingers long after a boat, flight, or long drive.

Common
Questions
Providing clarity for your first visit.
Do I need a referral to start?
North Carolina is a direct access state, meaning you can often start physical therapy without a referral. However, some insurance providers may require one for reimbursement. We are happy to verify this for you during your initial call.
Why don't you accept insurance?
Operating outside of commercial insurance contracts lets us focus entirely on your goals rather than on what an insurer will authorize. It means longer, one-on-one sessions, no surprise bills, and a treatment plan driven by your progress — not coverage rules. We do accept and bill Medicare Part B directly, and we are an out-of-network provider for Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) — give us a call and we'll go over the details. We can also provide a detailed superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Will treatment make me dizzy?
Some testing and treatment intentionally provokes brief, mild dizziness — that's how we pinpoint the source of the problem. Symptoms typically settle quickly, and most people feel fine to drive home. For your first visit, you're welcome to bring a driver for peace of mind.
How long is a typical session?
Evaluations typically last 60 to 75 minutes to ensure a comprehensive assessment. Regular follow-up sessions are usually 45 to 60 minutes, focusing entirely on your specific goals and progress.
How should I prepare for my first visit?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. If possible, skip eye makeup — our infrared goggle testing tracks your eye movements. Bring a list of current medications and any recent imaging or test results you have.
